About The Band

The Celebration Brass Band was started in May of 2009 by Keith Miland, Dave Czohara and Mary Lund. The band is made up of full and part-time residents, from The Villages, FL., and the surrounding area. At the current time the band performs a fall and spring concert each season.

The first concert was performed in November, 2010 at the Oxford Assembly of God Church, Oxford, Florida.

We are a British-style brass band. British style brass bands are made up of Eb and Bb brass instruments plus percussion. The band is limited to a set number of players, 26 brass and 2 to 5 percussion players. Cornets are used in place of trumpets, and Eb alto horns are used in place of French horns.

We are one of approximately 300 bands in the United States compared to over 2000 bands in the United Kingdom. Brass bands are also popular in Australia, New Zealand, Western Europe and Scandinavia.

The mission of the band is to establish and maintain the tradition of British-style brass band music in Central Florida. The band accomplishes its mission through a variety of educational and community outreach initiatives to enhance individuals’ awareness and understanding of the history and development of brass band music.

The band is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Florida. All players in the Celebration Brass Band are volunteers, including the conductor.
