CONDUCTOR EMERITUS

JIll Van Syckle

Jill has been the conductor of Celebration Brass Band since it started  in 2009.  She has guided a group of musicians, many times short of qualified players, not always playing on the proper instruments  and playing with borrowed music, into a highly successful musical organization in The Villages. 

She is  a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music.  She spent 31 years teaching instrumental music in Morristown, New Jersey.  Her ensembles excelled, receiving many superior ratings and awards at Festivals and competitions including Disney World.  Since moving to The Villages in 2007, Jill has kept busy playing trumpet with the Villages Concert Band, The Villages Swing Band, the Villages production Company, Villages Voices and serving as conductor of Villages Symphonic Winds. While Jill has handed of her baton to others, she has picked up her cornet and take a seat in the band’s cornet section.

In her spare time Jill enjoys golf, bowling and camping at Myrtle Beach, SC.
